Job Description
Principal Responsibilities:
* Developing and checking 3D piping models
* Layout complex plant and piping systems including pipe supports
* Preparing, updating and checking piping deliverables including General Arrangement and Detail Drawings, P + IDs, Isometrics and sketches
* Preparing material take-offs, drawings lists, line lists and valve lists.
* Maintaining technical knowledge to ensure appropriate and cost effective technologies are incorporated
* Participating in formal engineering review processes.
* Reviewing standards of design and capital cost estimates, drawings and other engineering outputs.
* May be asked to oversee a group of designers and provide technical support
Requirements
* Completion of a two- to three-year college program in engineering design and drafting technology or in a related field
* 5 years of work experience as an engineering technician/technologist specializing in process piping design and drafting.
* Experience using Intergraph PDS, Bentley PlantSpace and/or 3D Microstation or 3Di modeling systems or equivalent would be an asset
* A solid understanding of ASME B31.3 Piping and API Codes
* Experience in mining and metallurgical processing facilities or energy projects or other heavy industry would be an asset
* Knowledge of various relevant standards as required for piping design.
* Experience in leading a group of designers and drafters would be an asset
