Core Purpose of Job:
To maximise production and thereby profit to the farm by planning and organising all farm maintenance activities within his area of responsibility and making the most efficient use of all resources at his disposal. To develop, implement and manage standard operating proceedures, preventative maintenance programs and replacement planning for a broad range of agricultural, industrial, and animal feeding equipment
1. Achieve physical and financial performance for the maintenance area within parameters agreed with his Farm Manager to meet or exceed targeted budget.
2. Manage all areas in the field of maintenance (mechanical, electrical, structural and water treatment) to ensure operational efficiency and smooth running of the unit.
3. Motivate his staff to achieve ever-greater levels of efficiency in all aspects of their work.
4. To develop the potential of the maintenace staff for the benefit of the individual and the company through appropriate OJT, coaching, mentoring, and any applicable training available.
5. Manage and implement the ISO 9001 – 2000 Quality Management System as well as the Environmental Management System the ISO 14001, to allow retention of our Certification and to enhance the quality methods of the farm.
6. Ensure that Health and Safety standards are met in all activities taking place in the farm.
Activities:
1. Responsible in a different array of tasks which include leadership of people, organizational structuring, human relations, training, work planning, work simplification and methods for improvement.
2. To develop performance standards as a measurement to increase quality and quantity of service to meet company expectations. And to monitor on a daily basis the performance of all units he is responsible for and to ensure they are operating within Divisional guidelines.
3. Monitor and assess the performance of his Workshop Foreman and Supervisors, and all staff providing guidance and support to ensure that they and their unit achieve their key performance level.
4. Coordinates with his Workshop Foreman and Supervisors on personnel leave/vacation and manpower allocation to ensure an adequate supply in the site at all times.
5. To keep the Farm Manager, Engineering Manager and Regional Maintenance sectors informed at all times of relevant information regarding farm operation within his area of responsibility.
6. To assist in the yearly preparation and allocation of the capital budget with the Farm Manager for the approval of Farming General Manager (GM).
7. To ensure that all quality records of farm performance are maintained and be capable of analyzing and reporting conclusions drawn from these.
8. To carry out any other tasks or special projects as may be requested from him by the Farm Manager.
